Windows version note: Using the Xbox One controller via Bluetooth only works on Windows 10 with the Anniversary update applied.Ģ. Here you should see your Bluetooth is set to "On" and is discoverable. Press the Windows key and type "Bluetooth" until search brings up the Bluetooth & other devices settings option. On top of that headphone jack, it also has built-in Bluetooth!ġ. It also adds a 3.5mm headphone jack to the bottom of the controller, another easy giveaway.
The redesigned controller launched with the Xbox One S console has a smaller plastic molding along the top. Its bumpers have a narrower click range, making them less comfortable depending on where you position your fingers. The first iteration of the Xbox One controller does not support Bluetooth and has a few other annoyances. The controller immediately identified in Steam. The shape of the plastic molding at the top of the controller is your clue. Other installation methods did not help me.Īfter installation in the device manager, instead of "HID-compliant Game Controller" appeared "XINPUT compatible HID device". The most important thing! You need to select "install from disk" and set the path to the files in the folder with driver. The main thing is that you understand where to click xD (there are 2 packages, for 32 and 64 bits, see description)
To solve the problem, I needed to FORCE install the driver for the When it is connected via a cable or a proprietary 8BitDo adapter, Steam sees the controller.īut when I connect the controller via bluetooth - it is not available on Steam. I am using the 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ controller. But nothing has changed, the controller is not visible on Steam. I thought this was a problem with the old OS on my laptop. Now my controller works wirelessly immediately, and so that in the end, it fixed it without re-install old drivers. After updating that, I tried it to see if it fixed it in a Steam game. After updating that, the item is now called "XINPUT compatible HID device" automatically. I opened its properties, then on Driver, I clicked Update Driver.
In Device Manager, on Human Interface Devices, I had one item called "Game device compatible with HID". Thanks in advance for the possible replies. Thats why I seek for help here hoping for someone to please help me to fix this issue. I've tried completely uninstalling Steam client, but even after installing it again from scratch, it still doesn't detect my controller wirelessly. I've been trying to find solutions everywhere, but I haven't found a solution for it.
So, if it works with my Windows 7 and other games, outside of Steam, it is not a drivers problem and something within Steam client must be causing the problem. And in control panel, the configuration of the buttons/analogic pads are detected perfectly fine.
I have tried playing games outside of Steam, and IT WORKS with other PC games and emulators, both wirelessly and USB. Big picture mode doesn't detect it wirelessly (but does with USB). It does detect it via USB, and I can play fine with USB wire. The games played fine without any trouble.īut for the past two months, after one of Steam updates of June (can't exactly remember which update or when it was), Steam doesn't recognize my controller wirelessly anymore. My apologies if I created this in the wrong forum (please move thread to where it belongs if so), or if this has been asked previously.įor the past years, I've been using my Xbox One controller wirelessly via Xbox One Wireless Adapter for Windows, without any problems, on my Windows 7 64bit OS.
